Tasks that should email are returning the error 'The Authentication failed and is Required for this Connection'

This error implies that the SMTP email credentials that are set up within TaskCentre are no longer correct and need updating.

  1. You can check this with the following steps:

  2. Log in to TaskCentre

  3. Browse to Manage, Tools, Output, Send Email (SMTP)

  4. Click "Test Connection"

If the credentials are incorrect you will see the same "Authentication Failed" message as on your tasks.
The credentials will need to be updated to the correct details and tasks will then email successfully again.

If the test passes, it may be that the SMTP Server has run out of hard drive space. Please check this, free up some space and try to run a task again.
