Error 1053 when starting the TaskCentre service

If you see error 1053 when starting the TaskCentre service, this is usually caused by a connectivity issue with the TaskCentre store. This article explains how to identify your store type and resolve the issue.

This error is usually caused by a lack of connectivity to the TaskCentre store. There are two types of TaskCentre store:

  • External

  • SQL

You can identify which store is in use by following these steps:

  1. Run the **TaskCentre Configurator utility**.

  2. Expand the **Server** node, then click the **Store** node.

  3. The **Store** type will be displayed.

To resolve this issue when an external store is configured, follow these steps:

  1. Open the folder named **iwdb** (this is usually on the c:\ drive).

  2. Open the folder to display the files in the folder.

  3. Create a backup folder.

  4. Copy all files with the extension .da0 into the backup folder.

  5. Copy the files iwsysdta.dat and iwsysdta.fpt into the backup folder.

  6. Delete the files with the extension .da0 from the iwdb folder.

  7. Delete the files iwsysdta.dat and iwsysdta.fpt from the iwdb folder.

  8. Start the TaskCentre service.

  9. Start the TaskCentre Schedule Agent service.

To resolve this issue when a SQL store is configured, rectify any network connectivity issues. Once this has been done, run the Configurator utility and follow these steps:

  1. Expand the **Server** node, then expand the **Store** node.

  2. Click Configuration.

  3. Select the **Change store configuration** checkbox.

  4. Click **Connect to / Create an alternative Microsoft SQL Server Store**.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Enter the Server Name, database name and credentials to connect to the SQL server.

  7. Click **Next**, then click **Save**.
