Edit a Crystal report on a TaskCentre task

When you use a Crystal report in a TaskCentre task, a copy of the report is stored within the task itself. This means that editing the original Crystal report file won't update the task — you'll need to update the report directly through TaskCentre instead. There are two ways to do this:

  • By editing the Crystal report directly through Orbis TaskCentre (this requires Crystal to be installed on the same machine running TaskCentre).

  • By exporting the report, making changes in Crystal separately, then importing the new version back into the task.

Edit the Crystal report directly through Orbis

  1. Log in to TaskCentre.

  2. Double-click the relevant task to open it.

  3. Double-click the Crystal report step to open it.

  4. Click **Edit Report**.

  5. Make the required changes, then save the report.

  6. Click **OK** to save the changes to the step.

  7. Click **Apply** to save the changes to the task.

Edit the Crystal report outside of Orbis

  1. Log in to TaskCentre.

  2. Double-click the relevant task to open it.

  3. Double-click the Crystal report step to open it.

  4. At the top of the window, click **Export**.

  5. Choose a location, give the file a name, then click **Save**.

  6. Open the saved file in Crystal Designer, make all required changes, then save the file.

  7. Back in TaskCentre, on the Crystal report step of the task, note any parameters and take screenshots of each setting — you'll need to add them back after importing the updated file.

  8. When you've made a note of all the parameter settings, click **Import**.

  9. Select the updated Crystal report — this will completely overwrite all Crystal report settings on the task. Make sure you're ready to proceed before confirming.

  10. Add the parameters back in as they were before.

  11. Add the logon credentials back in as they were before the import.

  12. Click **OK** to save the changes to the step.

  13. Click **Apply** to save the changes to the task.
